Ibirapuera Park
Ibirapuera Park is in the centre of São
Paulo and is a must-go-to destination at the weekend. Inaugurated in 1954, to
celebrate the 400th aniversary of São Paulo, Ibirapuera Park was design by
landscape architect Burle Marx and the famous Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer.
There are 2 million
square
meters of open space incorporating gardens, sports pitches, the Modern Art and
Contemporary Art museums, Ibirapuera Planetarium, The Japanese Pavilion, and the
famous obelisk as seen in our picture. Ibirapuera
Park is a great place to hang out, meet people and pickup a game of football or
basket ball ! Ibirapuera Park is open from 06:00 to 20:00. Entry is free and the
nearest metro station is Brigadeiro.
